In less than two months, our Web site was pirated 4 times by one or
more people of which we are still unaware of the identity and the
motivations.
By chance we have the good practice to make periodic backups of the
whole Web site and thanks to this precaution, we did not undergo any
loss of data and our services were not affected during more than one or
two days.
But each “attack” that we undergo, apart from any unpleasant feeling
that it generates, obliges us to invest a great amount of of time and
efforts to repair the damage and to bring back the site to its original
state.
To reduce the possibilities of intrusion in our system, we are
compelled to remove some functionalities of our Web site, as from the
beginning of next May:
- We cancel the possibility of directly sending “news” on our
site. Those who wish to publish an article, an advertizing in concert,
or simply a link, will have to send us a message using our contacts form; we will answer this message as soon as possible.
- We
will also cancel the direct inscription to the Web site. This means
that the possibility of being registered (with a nickname and a
password) will not exist any more and that consequently the
“personalization” of the site's appearance will not be possible any
more.
Subsequently to this cancellation, the data base which
preserved until now nicknames and passwords of registered users will be
deleted so that nobody can use these data.
By the same reason, the internal mail-system by which registered users could interchange messages will cease functioning.
It is a pity, really, that the more than 500 users of our site see
themselves deprived of the few advantages to which the inscription gave
them right, and this because of one or two intruders with their brain
in the wrong place. We regret this disadvantage very much.
But despite everything we do not resign the goal we fixed ourselves: to turn this Web site of the Academia Musical de Indias into a great community of exchanges devoted to the research and the diffusion of Latin American Early Music.
To accomplish it, we will set up soon a forum where
all registered users will be able to exchange ideas, impressions and
documentation on all subjects related with Latin-American Early Music.
